The Secret Garden is a private residence in Redcliffs, Christchurch, transformed for intimate elopements and small weddings of up to 16 guests. As you step through the gate, it feels like another world — secluded, sheltered, and surrounded by lush greenery and birdsong.
Ceremonies take place in the private rear garden, or indoors overlooking sweeping water views — a refined wet-weather option that feels just as considered. Each space offers intimacy, softness, and quiet elegance. After the ceremony, the garden naturally lends itself to celebration — champagne, cake, and time shared together in a relaxed, elegant setting. Offering a beautiful bridal suite with private ensuite, options are available for early check-in as a getting ready location, and to book pre and wedding night accommodation.
Every experience is fully planned for you — from venue, celebrant, photography and florals through to catering and beverage options — all thoughtfully brought together so everything flows with ease from start to finish on your wedding day. We take on a limited number of elopements on weekdays for the ultimate in privacy, with bookings open up to six months in advance in line with our venue agreements, allowing each experience to be carefully planned and beautifully delivered.

To ensure a seamless experience, we organise and prepare all catering and beverages for your day, and serve your guests so you can celebrate. A service fee is added on confirmation of your selections.

The Secret Garden also offers a beautiful bridal suite with a private ensuite, and water views. When you book your Wedding here, you have the option to add the suite for:
- Staying the evening before your Wedding
- Earlier arrival on your Wedding day, as a getting ready location & getting dressed.
- Wedding night accommodation with the venue/property to yourselves.
- A romantic setting with masses of candles, a bottle of bubbly and a platter to share.
- A cooked breakfast served the following morning, at a beautifully styled table.
